A razor should rest for at least 24 hours after a shave before it is freshly stropped on the leather strop before the next shave (not after). The linen coating on the back serves to prepare the knife before stropping on the leather side (pre-strop). During stropping, the strop must be well tensioned, otherwise the blade of the knife will become rounded and blunt. Stropping itself is always done against the cutting edge. The knife is placed on the strop at a flat angle and the spine of the knife is pulled away from the body. The knife is then turned over the spine and the spine is pulled back towards the body. We recommend repeating this process 40 - 60 times. Never pull towards the sharp side of the knife, otherwise it will become blunt and the strop could break.
