The Nose had set out to create a composition that would tell of a lack of eloquence. During the process, he was inspired by the movement of Brutalism as well as by a historical figure from Italian history, the Roman senator Marcus Iunius Brutus, who was not a man of great words. He was even an extremely unskilled speaker, but he was clever, precise, and brutal. Once he made a decision, nothing could sway him from his path. Brutality does not linger on negotiations and makes no compromises. Nature is brutal; only the best equipped survive. According to Darwin's theory of evolution, this is a natural form of selection. Biologically speaking, this success is expressed in the ability to reproduce.
Alessandro intended to create a controversial composition, both conceptually and olfactorily. A creation that, like nature, can be brutal on one hand, yet perfectly balanced and full of beauty on the other. The fragrance is, contrary to its name, Brutus, extremely elegant, refined, and subtle. He captures the connection between attraction and repulsion. Brutus seizes the moment and holds onto it, and this moment is of great significance, indeed essential. The thought behind it is that life is decided in a single instant – the moment when one recognizes their true nature and the person they really are.
A PACKAGING THAT LEADS TO NEW DISCOVERIESAll fragrances from ORTO PARISI are hidden in a box that unfolds in individual facets and suggests an opening towards infinity in the center. The scent of Brutus is contained in a glass bottle with a polished copper metal cap and an inlay of walnut shell. The label made of natural white paper has the texture of 'Savile Row Tweed' and features an extremely fine herringbone structure.
CENTRAL ASPECTS OF ORTO PARISI
PLEASANT versus STRICT SCENTSATTRACTION versus REPULSION
Two notes are present in all fragrances: 'PISSE DE CHEVAL' and 'BOYA BUTTER'. Boya butter is the butter from precious agarwood that forms in the heartwood of Aquilaria trees when they are infected with a special type of mold. The heartwood is odorless, thin, and light before infection. After the infection, it turns dark and produces an extremely aromatic resin called Agar, also known as 'Oud'. First-grade agarwood is one of the most expensive natural raw materials in the world. The scent of agarwood is complex and enchanting, and there are hardly any other substances that come close to it. Behind the so-called 'pisse de cheval' lies the organic component p-Cresol, which is produced during the bacterial fermentation of human protein and is excreted with feces and urine. It is also a component of tobacco smoke and human sweat, which attracts female mosquitoes. In the Orto Parisi collection, p-Cresol plays a role in creating repulsive and attractive notes. It is an essential component of the natural scent of pigs and is produced during the mating season by male elephants. It is one of the rare components that attract Euglossini – the so-called orchid bees – and has been extensively used in this context to capture and study the species. A repulsive lure that brings the hidden scent of the soul to life. These two extremely subtly processed base components represent the contradiction between attraction and repulsion in a balanced combination with other raw materials. They invite those who smell the fragrances on an endless journey to discover life through the sense of smell.
