Escentric Molecules
Escentric Molecules is a fragrance brand founded in 2006 by German master perfumer Geza Schön. The brand made its name through a radically minimalist approach: instead of complex compositions, Escentric Molecules focuses on single aroma molecules—most notably Iso E Super. This molecule, synthesized in 1973 in an IFF laboratory and not found in nature, remained largely unnoticed in the perfume world until the launch of Escentric Molecules brought it into the spotlight and reshaped the way we think about modern perfumery. Geza Schön, born in Kassel and now based in Berlin, takes an unconventional, almost provocative approach with Escentric Molecules. His creations are experimental yet approachable—often built around a single molecule used in high concentration. The most iconic example is Molecule 01, a fragrance composed solely of Iso E Super. This molecule unfolds a warm, velvety aura that interacts uniquely with each wearer’s skin chemistry, making the scent feel different on everyone. The brand’s collections reflect this innovative concept: the Molecule Collection features individual molecules in their pure form, while the Escentric Collection pairs them with complementary notes to highlight their character. The newer Molecule + Collection takes things a step further by enhancing Molecule 01 with selected natural ingredients like patchouli, iris, or guaiac wood.
