Josh Meyer, the mastermind behind Portland-based Imaginary Authors, never liked the sound of conformist ideas about fragrance and always had bad connotations of the perfume world in mind. Until one day, he was sent some perfume samples that opened up a years-long rabbit hole of research and trial-and-error that eventually led him into the world of niche fragrances. This led him to quit his real estate job and start creating his own unique line of distinctive fragrances that can be compared side by side, like tasting wine.
Imaginary Authors was born, offering wildly unique fragrances born from the concept of fragrance as art and art as provocation. Like a good book, each fragrance is meant to inspire. Inside these bottles are layered narratives that are sure to spark conversation, fragrances that may change the course of your own personal story.
