Care: Rinse the device and the blade thoroughly under running water after each use. At regular intervals, for example during blade changes, clean the dermaplaner without blades thoroughly under clear water.  Wipe the blade and blade guard with alcohol for disinfection. Leaf recommends regularly replacing the blade and blade guard for hygienic reasons – either monthly or after every three uses, whichever comes first.

When refilling the device, two parts need to be replaced: a single-edge blade and a blade guard. Open the head and first insert the blade guard. If the dermaplaner has just been opened for the first time, the blade guard is already installed. Simply place the blade guard with the nubs facing forward and insert the short bend of the guard directly into the slot on the handle. It will snap in securely and hold through friction. Never use the Leaf Dermaplaner without the blade guard. Next, the steel blade will be inserted. Carefully unpack the blade and align it with the blunt end at the fold of the blade guard, pressing it forward against the nubs. The blade must fit snugly, so press down on both sides of the blade at the back and ensure it falls along the wall. This is an intentionally tight fit. Now the head of the dermaplaner can be closed. When it closes completely, everything is fine. If it stops just before closing completely, the blade may not have been pressed down far enough. Now, open the head again and press on both sides of the back of the blade. To remove the blade, reach behind it and pry it out. The blade is firmly seated against the back wall, so be careful when taking it out as it may resist a little. To remove the blade guard, insert a thin object, such as a coin or a key, through the rear slot. Press out on both sides until it is free, and remove the blade guard. If the blade guard is bent or broken, it must not be reused. It is recommended to remove the blade guard only when the dermaplaner is to be filled with a new blade guard. It is recommended to refill the dermaplaner after every one to three uses or about once a month, whichever comes first.

To prepare, thoroughly cleanse the face. Either use on dry skin or apply a small amount of shaving oil. If the method is not optimal for your skin, a dermatologist can help. Keep the skin taut and place the blade at a 45-degree angle against the skin. Apply light pressure and move in short, downward strokes towards the center of the face. Rinse or wipe the blade as needed. It's best to take your time and familiarize yourself with the technique. Then rinse the skin and finish with a moisturizer. Warning: Do not use the dermaplaner without the blade guard.
