Byredo was founded in Stockholm in 2006 by Ben Gorham with the aim of translating the feeling of memories and emotions into the form of an everyday product. Born to an Indian mother and a Canadian father, Ben grew up in Toronto, New York and Stockholm. He graduated from Stockholm Art School with a degree in Fine Arts, but a chance encounter with perfumer Pierre Wulff convinced him that he would rather create fragrances than paintings. As an outsider in the beauty industry, he is somewhat of an anomaly and has carved out a unique position for himself in the market for his personal style and connection to fashion and art. In contrast to the typical Scandinavian aesthetic, Byredo clearly bears ethnic influences from Ben's Indian background with strong ties to creativity, art and lifestyle. Byredo's approach of letting emotions guide creations is expressed through the complete and limitless universe of products. The development of each individual product takes place using only the highest quality materials available and high-quality design details.
