The sea is a unity and boundless at the same time. One does not need to explain it. Ambivalent and powerful, elegant and fragile... The sea tolerates no contradiction and no opposition. Let it guide you.
A feeling beyond time. This scent is like the echo of an endless breath. Megamare promises everything and nothing – here, there, everywhere. It takes its bearer to new shores and invites them to discover new things and go deeper. Through its salty layers, this composition leads to crystal-clear, sacred places and to gray shallows, where our weaknesses and strengths, fears and longings are reflected. Ultimately, the sea gets by without grand words. The attempt to explain it completely denies its mysteries, burdens the movement, and stifles the tendrils of the eternally unknown. The little we know is contained within this perfume bottle and corresponds exactly to the amount that is possible and necessary to expand our conception of the sea. Megamare is an olfactory contemplation of the sea.
A PACKAGING THAT LEADS TO NEW DISCOVERIESAll scents from ORTO PARISI are hidden in a box that unfolds in individual facets and suggests an opening towards infinity in the center. Megamare floats in a glass bottle. Its cap made of polished silver metal bears traces of greenish corrosion, as caused by saltwater, and features a shell as an inlay. The label made of natural white paper has the texture of 'Savile Row Tweed' and displays an extremely fine herringbone structure.
CENTRAL ASPECTS OF ORTO PARISI
PLEASANT versus STRICT SCENTSATTRACTION versus REPULSION
Two notes are present in all scents: 'PISSE DE CHEVAL' and 'BOYA BUTTER'. Boya butter is the butter made from precious agarwood, which forms in the heartwood of Aquilaria trees when they are infected with a special type of mold. The heartwood is odorless, thin, and light before infection. After infection, it turns dark and produces an extremely aromatic resin called Agar, also known as 'Oud'. First-grade agarwood is one of the most expensive natural raw materials in the world. The scent of agarwood is complex and enchanting, and there are virtually no other substances that come close to it. Behind the so-called 'pisse de cheval' lies the organic component p-Cresol, which is produced during the bacterial fermentation of human protein and is excreted with feces and urine. It is also a component of tobacco smoke and human sweat, which attracts female mosquitoes. In the Orto Parisi collection, p-Cresol plays a role in creating repulsive and attractive notes. It is an essential component of the natural scent of pigs and is produced during the mating season by male elephants. It is one of the rare components that attracts Euglossini – the so-called orchid bees – and has been extensively used in this context to capture and study the species. A repulsive lure that brings the hidden scent of the soul to life. These two extremely subtly processed base components represent the contradiction between attraction and repulsion in a balanced combination with other raw materials. They invite those who smell the scents on an endless journey to discover life through the sense of smell.
